Biting my lip, I suppress a moan at the thought of exploring every inch of his delectable body and kissing his sensual mouth. I suddenly realize he’d been saying something, but I have no idea what.

DoubleMagickintheFalls_w8561_750 Double Magick in the Falls Book Blurb

Review courtesy of April Hollingworth

This is the third book in the phenomenal, The Watchtower Chronicles, and I loved it. Each book can be read as a standalone, but to be honest, each book is so brilliant and reverting that to only read one, you would be seriously missing out on the highly addictive series. Delwyn Jenkins has managed to create a series that is both enthralling and completely addictive. Hail to the Watchtower Chronicals, and I can’t wait for the next book in this series.

Opening Scene:

Lost.
Tristan didn’t know how long he’d been caged in the dark.

The Review:

Charlotte McLaren is determined to step up and take control of her magic and destiny. She is tired of being classified as the god girl who needs protecting. Determined to become as powerful and independent as the other members of her Quatre, she is ready to join the fight against their enemy. But to do so, she’s going to have to step up-big time.
Watchtower Knight Tristan, has spent the last three months locked inside an agonizing hell of dark magic and pain. Emerging from this nightmare as a changed man. No longer fun and carefree, he’s wary of the darkness inside him, that prowls about waiting to be released and threatening his fellow Knights and the Quarter of witches that have become family, especially the lovely water-witch Charlotte.
But Charlotte is determined to claim him as hers. To seduce the seducer with her innocence, and make demands of him he’s not sure he can fulfill. After all he knows he should keep away from her to protect her from his darkness. Now all he has to do is convince Charlotte and himself.

Notable Scene:

Wow. He’d been awake for thirty seconds and he’d already managed to feel her up, insult her, and then blame her for his actions. Riding the righteous indignation that surged up inside her, Charlotte shoved at him again.
“Don’t you dare blame me, Tristan. You’re a grown man in charge of your own impulses.” The minute he released her she scrambled off the bed, tugging at her skirts that were trapped under his body.
He looked at her and Charlotte could see him struggling to focus. “I’m not a man,” he slurred, “I’m a fucking Watchtower Knight.” Then his eyes rolled back and he slumped onto the bed.
Charlotte stared at him, heart racing with anger and something else she didn’t want to name. Her breath heaved in and out of her lungs as though she’d run a marathon, and her legs wouldn’t quite take her weight.
Despite being shocked and confused, one thought kept circling around in her mind. He was back. Somehow Tristan had managed to free himself from his dark prison and return to her intact. She had no doubt he’d be his old self again in no time, and that was her second miracle for the evening.
She’d done a lot of research on coma patients, and what had just happened was so atypical the healers would want to write papers on it. No man should come out of a four-month coma cogent enough to have a conversation, let alone be able to melt a woman’s bones. It wasn’t right, it wasn’t normal, and it sure as heck wasn’t fair. But it was very Tristan.

Kissed by Water (The Watchtower Chronicles, #3)

Review courtesy of April Hollingworth

This is the first book in the brand new O’Brian Family series, and it promises to follow Cecy Robson’s other series, another words brilliant and unput-downable. In this heartbreaking, soul searching, laugh out loud book, you meet and fall in love with Curran O’Brian and Tess Newart. They are both suffering from different types of emotional pain, and the only place they find comfort is in each other’s embraces, where passion ignites leaving not only them breathless but the reader too. I loved this book. It had me crying, laughing and furious, and sighing in contentment as well as shouting “Oh my God” and “No” as well as a couple of other things I won’t mention. I honestly can’t wait for the next book, and the one after that etc, to find out more about this wonderful family and the people they fall in love with.

The Review:

Curran O’Brian is a gorgeous smart-mouthed cop who loves his job but due to guilt over his rookie cop being hurt in the line of action, he is suffering from intense nightmares, but all he wants to do is prove he’s still got what it takes to be Phillies finest in blue not babysit for the DA’s office. Well until he catches sight of the woman he’s to watch-but not touch.
Tess Newart recognizes Curran instantly. Not surprising as she tied him up with her argyle socks back in college. That sizzling one-night stand is her only indiscretion, and one she’s never forgotten or allowed to repeat again. So far she’s survived law school, despite the unbearable pressure her father is forcing on her to succeed. Now she’s interning on a major case against a ruthless crime boss, and trying to finish off her law degree, distractions is something she won’t allow herself, and temptation is out of the question. If only she can remember that in the presence of Curran in uniform.
Tess knows her father has other plans for her. Plans that don’t include Curran, or her own happiness. But soon she’s falling for him all over again, and when danger emerges, Curran will prove just how good a bad-boy cop can be.

Okay so I started reading this book, late last night. I was only going to read a chapter or two, honest. Yeah, that didn’t work out, due to this page turning/kindle swiping addictive read. It was so good and I can’t wait for the next book in this astoundingly brilliant new series by the awesomely talented Tasha Black.
She has literally managed to create a story about genetics, that is both scarily believable (who really knows what the scientists are up to), robotic synthetics and a seriously hot Alpha male and the one woman who works for him and keeps him in line (a bit) and their smocking hot attraction, and you get this additively wonderful book. Now all I have to do is wait for book two in this series, hoping it’ll be soon because I can’t wait to read it!

Reconstructed (Building a Hero #1)

Her Heart’s Desire, Book one of the Sunflower Series By Linda Joyce

I was told, shortly after moving to the Kansas City area, the Midwest is the Heartland of the United States, and if someone is looking to find love, to truly get in touch with their heart, it was the place to be. And I agree.
Though I’m a southern girl, one who needs magnolia trees and Spanish moss, grits with eggs, and to hear “Yes, Ma’am” with a drawl, (not to mention men who hold doors open because they were raised to be southern gentlemen), there’s an allure to the Midwest that is undeniable. While I can’t handle the winters of seven below zero before wind chill, the rest of year offers festivals, hot air balloon shows, trout fishing, and the list goes on.
All of Kansas isn’t flat like the Kansas of Dorothy and Toto. The Emerald City, I believe, is Kansas City, Missouri, rising high on a hill up from the Missouri River banks.
For me, the winged monkeys were the burdens I carried, and while living in Kansas, those monkeys flew away. Undoubtable, my time in Kansas City restored my heart and filled it with friendships I treasured.
I hope you will enjoy meeting Amelia and Lucas. They truly represent the tenacity, generosity, and dedication to family and friends that I experienced during my twelve years out of the south.

Blurb:
Artist Amelia Britton battles her older brother for the right to remain on the family farm—their inheritance after their parents’ tragic deaths—she faces a looming mortgage, weather threatens to destroy her crops, and the man she secretly loves only sees her as Craig’s little sister.

After serving his country in Afghanistan, Lucas Dwyer expected to return home to his family’s farm, but the bank foreclosed. Undeterred, he begins combining-for-hire to support his younger sister in college. His best friend convinces him to discourage local guys from dating Amelia. Craig wants her back in the city, farming is too hard for a woman alone. Only one problem—Lucas has fallen in love with Amelia.

With family, the bank, and the weather conspiring against them, can Amelia and Lucas ever hope to grow the love blooming between them?

Tagline: An artist and a farmer fight family, the bank, and Mother Nature…to grow love.

Bio: Linda Joyce is an award-winning author of women’s fiction and romance. She writes about assertive females and the men who can’t resist them. Linda’s a big fan of jazz and blues. She attributes her love of those musical genres to her southern roots, which run deep in Louisiana. If you walk-through several New Orleans cemeteries you’ll find many of her family buried there. She penned her first manuscript while living in Japan, the country where her mother was born and raised. Now she lives in Atlanta, Georgia with her husband and four-legged boys. She’s also a foodie and loves to go RVing.

This is the third book in the Tina Tales series, though each book carries on Tina’s story, they are all designed to be read as standalones, as each book is a new case for her. I found this one intriguing mainly due to the mystery Tina is trying to solve, and how Hank’s work is given a bit more insight into. With new characters and a fare amount of intrigue, this is a fabulous story in the Tina Tales series.

Opening Scene:

“Tina?” Leslie whispered when Tina answered her cell phone. “What are you doing?”

The Review:

After receiving a midnight phone call, professional organizer Tina Shaw rushes to her friend’s house, to see if she really saw a ghost. Strange noises greet Tine upon arriving at Leslie’s, cluttered Rhode Island, Victorian attic. When police and firefighters arrive outside, they discover a murdered man in Leslie’s garden, with a note proclaiming him as Joshua Young.
Tina is determined to help her friend solve not only the mystery of the noises in her attic, but why a man was killed outside her house. A man with the same name as Leslie’s father, who grew up in the house. When Tina’s boyfriend, demands she quits the case declaring it too dangerous, Tina knows this is bigger than she ever expected, after all, Hank has ties to the police. Determined to solve the mystery of Joshua Young and the secrets in the attic, can Tina solve them before the murderer strikes again?

Notable Scene:

“What have you been up to since I’ve been gone?” Hank asked.
“Just chasing a ghost with Leslie.”
Hank looked startled, but only for a second.
“You’re not serious.”
“Do I ever kid you?” Tina grinned.
“Of course not. However, you never mentioned it when we talked on the phone.”
“We just started yesterday. She heard some noises in the attic last night and called me.” Tina told him everything, only pausing when the food came. When done, she took a bite of shrimp and waited for his reaction.
